Hey there!
I’m Shaila van Diessen, an allround hair and makeup artist based in Amsterdam, available for projects across Europe.

I was born in The Hague and grew up in central Italy, where my love for creativity started at a very young age. Dressing up, performing and experimenting with makeup were always part of my world. I trained for many years in dance, acting and singing, with the dream of becoming a musical theatre performer, and it was through those years on stage that I discovered how powerful makeup can be in storytelling and self expression.

During lockdown, when performing was no longer possible, I found a new creative outlet through body painting. What began as a way to stay inspired quickly turned into something more meaningful, encouraged by the positive response I received from the people around me. That experience helped me realise I wanted to pursue makeup not just as a passion, but as a profession.

In 2022 I moved to London to study at AOFM, where I completed the Complete Artistic course. Shortly after graduating, I started working on a variety of projects including fashion weeks, editorial photoshoots, short films and creative productions.

After six months in London, I moved to Amsterdam, where my focus naturally shifted towards film. I’ve been working full-time in the industry for the past three years alongside experienced teams in the Dutch industry. Being part of a set has taught me the importance of collaboration, adaptability and trust, values I carry into every project, whether it’s a large production or a small, intimate shoot.

What I love most about my work is the human connection. Creating a calm, safe and comfortable environment is something I find just as important as creating the right look. I believe people do their best work when they feel at ease, listened to and taken care of, and that always shows on camera.

Alongside film, I’m excited to collaborate more on commercial projects, music videos and photoshoots, bringing a thoughtful, detail oriented approach and a strong sense of visual storytelling to every project. 💖
